About this site and the related forum.
• The administrators of the site have collectively over 25 trips to China. We only claim to be experienced not experts.
• Add the trips forum members have done and it climbs to well over 200 trips and the sum of experience to the answers to your questions is huge.
• Neither site derives any money from membership fees. We promised this when we began and continue to offer free access.
• The reason we ask people to register on the forum is to reduce spam postings and spam bots harvesting peoples email address's.
• All area's of the forum are moderated, we find self moderation works best. There is an "unrestricted" catagory for those who elect to join it.
• Over 120 members from all around the world joined in a common interest and available to answer your questions.
• No Aggressive owners demanding money or threatening closing of a forum based on their mood of the day.
• The large membership allows a range of different views and advice. One thing about China is what is normal for today will be different for tomorrow.
• An age restriction of 18 years or older applies to membership of the forum.
Now for those who have never participated in a forum before the best place to start is in the Hello area, it gets those "first post nerves" out of the way. Take time to skim the posts to see if there is an answer to a question or a topic you are interested in. Ask your questions or offer advice and you will soon be caught up in the fun and friendship of being in a forum. A lot of our members arrange to meet when in Nanning and a large number of these mini-conventions (or beer and bulldust) meetings have taken place with many coming away the wiser (albeit with the odd hangover) for having met. Your details on the forum is secure with members details not available for viewing by the members so YOU choose who gets your contact details. Unlike other sites we respect your privacy and never sell or give out your details, we can't even tell you the password you used when joining or even read your Private Messages (an added free feature of the forum).
The Nanning and China information site is the only other Nanning site we are aware of with the same strict privacy standards.
History of the Website and Forum
The site was started as an addition to the forum which arose where another owned by another person failed. He continued with his pay to view site and we started this one with the information a lot of the memebrs had supplied him anyway. Amid his claims of copyright theft (I think he meant to say he had copied it right in the first place) we have continued to grow and it has been on the basis of free information, free help and advice and freedom to offer and have accepted suggestions for improvement and additions to the site and forum that has made the difference. Mr Original (as he is fondly named by ex members of his site) is welcome to his claimed position of being the first but his claim of having original copyright is a script worthy of Amazing Stories.
• We don't mind if you are a member of another similar forum. We just ask to respect our standards as you do on their site.
• We don't ban people for being members of another site or for having a different opinion. Just post, ask and comment with respect.
• We expect everyone to respect each others point of view.
So after all types of claims of this and that against this website we have continued to grow. Why? Because people like what they see and the help they receive from everyone. Information that is everywhere is collected and placed in two easy sites you can gain access to without spending a cent.
Why a Forum as well?
• Doesn't it just double the information already presented?
In some ways it does, however some information doesn't change (like maps for example) so a static fixed location makes certain information easier to find.
• So which has the most current information then?
The forum will always contain the most up to date information at hand. It is a lot quicker and easier to update (no html skills required) and it is supplied firsthand by those living in China. Updating a website takes a lot of time and information, links etc can change or become redundant very quickly.
• Why can't I just ask you my question direct?
As stated above we are experienced, we are not experts. If you want to ask any of the Administrators privately you can, however you just receive one persons opinion, on a forum you get a range of information to base your decision on.
• Who are the owners of the site/forum?
Actually the members are, without them there would be no site or forum. But the Administrators are Frank, Sly and Robert. Frank and Sly are from the U.S.A and Robert is in Australia. But our members are from all across the world.
• Why do I have to join the forum to see the other information?
OK, firstly it is free so it's not like we are asking you to pay a cent to see it. Part of a forum's success is not just number of members but also the participation of it's members and the adding of information to the collective for the benefit of others. If the forum was open to guests as in the past we found our pages being linked to other websites, we are sincere in our efforts for your's and our security.Anyway once you have joined we are certain you will be in for the long term.
• What else does the forum have to offer?
Apart from getting your questions answered, we have private messaging, a jukebox, up to date news feeds from China dn in case you are thinking of getting a job as an English teacher, job advertisements from the largest teaching employment site, a place to post your pictures, travel tips and warnings, and a chance to interact with like minded people in the same situation as you.
